Behavior and Classroom Management
There are a variety of tools I use in my classroom for behavior and classroom management. I like to give individual, group and whole class rewards. Individual awards can be earned through coins. Each student has an opportunity to earn class money each day. Their classroom behavior directly relates to how much they will earn that week. Every four to six weeks, we will have an auction where students can purchase incentives. Some of the incentives will be: lunch with the teacher, sit in a rolling chair for a day, and a homework pass. For group rewards, students sit in teams. Each team can earn points throughout the week. At the end of the week, the team with the most points will earn class money.
Great Leader Skills: We will work through the following life skills throughout the year: responsibility, self-regulation, effort and motivation, resourcefulness, collaboration, and perseverance. The skills directly correlate with the life skills on the report card.
I expect appropriate behavior in the classroom and out on the playground. Inappropriate behavior will be dealt with as needed. This may include: a personal talk with me, being sent to another 3rd grade room, loss of recess, or contact home.
